The Cypress Centurions seem to be catching their stride having won six straight games after the inexplicable loss to Tustin a couple weeks ago.
Kevin Lillicrop threw a no hitter against Pacifica after matching Yorba Linda's Trent Paddon pitch-for-pitch last week and getting a very important win in Empire League play. Lillicrop chipped in with three hits at the plate against Pacifica for good measure.
Cypress is finally living up to the lofty preseason expectations and they're getting it done with pitching, spectacular defense, and timely hitting. While the Centurions would love to explode offensively against a quality opponent, they're winning games with experience as the majority of the lineup are returning players.
On a team loaded with next level prospects (scouts have told me they have as many as six draftable players), I chose to focus on the youngest of them all, freshman Dominic Fletcher.
Over the last four games Fletcher is 3-for-8 with an RBI, 2 runs, 1 BB, and 1 K. The left handed hitter simply doesn't waste at bats regardless of the count.
The younger brother of LMU signee David Fletcher (a potential draft pick) the bloodlines are strong for the center fielder. Below is a video of Fletcher against Pacifica on 5/1/13.
