Ayala opened their season this weekend by winning both games of a home double header versus Fullerton.
The Bulldogs won game one behind a great pitching performance by sophomore Erik Cha who threw a complete game two hitter. Cha lost his no hit bid with two outs in the fifth inning. On the day, the sophomore southpaw struck out seven while giving up one earned run and walking none.
"This was a good start to the season," said head coach, Chris Vogt. "There were a lot of positives today."
Senior Richie Chavez led the offense for the Bulldogs in game one going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Anthony Seminaris was stellar finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Rudy Casarez had a nice day at the plate but made an impact with his glove with great play after great play.
"Cazarez put on a defensive show," said Vogt. "Our defense was strong making our only error in the top of the seventh of game two."
Game two saw junior Jordan Abernathy get the win by throwing 5.2 innings allowing zero runs and striking out five. The Offense was led by Casarez who finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Robert Longtree chipped in with two hits including a triple, and sophomore Marcos Campos finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
"The pitchers looked great pounding the zone and only walking 3 batters over 14 innings," said Vogt.
Ayala plays Thursday @ Corona Del Mar and Saturday vs St. Paul.
