Orange Lutheran and St. Mary's split a double header tonight at Hart Park in Orange, Ca.
In game one, sophomore pitcher Garret King threw his second consecutive complete game shutout for the Lancers. After giving up two hits in the first inning King retired the side in order in until the sixth inning when the Rams scratched out a couple more hits. The Lancers cruised to a 4-0 win on timely hitting and stellar defense up the middle by senior shortstop and Pepperdine signee Cody Nulph, along with junior second baseman Travis Blue.
In game two, Gio Brusa, a University of Pacific signee, had a no hitter going through 5.1 before giving up a base knock to Turner Bias. St. Mary's pitching and timely hitting led to a 2-0 win for the Rams. Orange Lutheran was unable to muster any sort of rally despite five walks and a hit batter.
The Lancers take on Damian High School tomorrow in the final game of the Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament before starting Trinity League play on Tuesday against Servite.
